The Plusses of a Water Element in Your Workplace

brk-303-2__92712.jpg Most customers think water fountains are a great addition to a business. A business or store with a lovely water fountain in its entrance will bring in customers and differentiate them from the competition. Yoga studios, bookstores, coffee shops, salons as well as other retail businesses can all profit from including a visible water feature outside. For businesses where people like to mingle outdoors, a water fountain can provide a chilled environment. Couples out on a romantic date will definitely enjoy a charming fountain in any bar or restaurant.

Keep Your Landscape Fountain Clean

It is essential to carefully maintain water fountains for them to work optimally. It is easy for foreign objects to find their way into outside fountains, so keeping it clean is vital. On top of that, algae can be a problem, as sun hitting the water enables it to form quickly. To avoid this, take vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, or sea salt and add directly into the water. There are those who prefer to use bleach, but that is hazardous to any animals that might drink or bathe in the water - so should therefore be avoided.

Experts advise that the typical garden fountain undergoes a thorough scouring every 3-4 months. The first task is to get rid of all the water. When it is empty, scrub inside the reservoir with a mild cleanser. If there is intricate artwork, you might need to use a toothbrush for those hard-to-reach areas. Make sure all the soap is completely washed off.

Calcium and fresh water organisms could get inside the pump, so you should disassemble it to get it truly clean. Soaking it in vinegar for a while will make it easier to scrub.

Mineral or rain water, versus tap water, is ideal in order to prevent any build-up of chemicals inside the pump.

One final trick for keeping your fountain in top working order is to check the water level every day and make sure it is full. Low water levels can ruin the pump - and you don't want that!

Anglo Saxon Grounds During the Norman Conquest

Anglo-Saxons encountered extraordinary adjustments to their day-to-day lives in the latter half of the eleventh century due to the accession of the Normans. The skill of the Normans exceeded the Anglo-Saxons' in design and farming at the time of the conquest. But the Normans had to pacify the whole territory before they could focus on home life, domestic architecture, and decoration. Because of this, castles were cruder structures than monasteries: Monasteries were often important stone buildings set in the biggest and most fecund valleys, while castles were erected on windy crests where their residents devoted time and space to tasks for offense and defense. The sterile fortresses did not provide for the peaceful avocation of farming. Berkeley Castle, potentially the most unspoiled style of the early Anglo-Norman style of architecture, still exists today. The keep is said to date from the time of William the Conqueror. An enormous terrace encompasses the building, serving as an obstacle to assailants intending to dig under the castle walls. On one of these parapets is a scenic bowling green covered in grass and enclosed by an aged hedge of yew that has been shaped into coarse battlements.

Water Features: Fundamental in any Japanese Landscapes

No Japanese garden is whole without a water element. They tend to be placed right at the entrance of Japanese temples and homes because they are regarded as being representative of spiritual and physical cleansing. Since water is meant to be the focal point of a fountain, you will notice that the designs are kept very simple.

Many people also opt for a water fountain that has a bamboo spout. The bamboo spout is placed over the basin, typically crafted of natural rocks, and water trickles out. In addition, it is important to the overall look that it appear as if it has been outdoors for a long time. People want their fountain to appear as natural as possible, so they position plants, flowers, and stones around the fountain. Clearly, this fountain is something more than just a basic decoration.

For something a bit more unique, start with a bed of gravel, add a stone fountain, and then embellish it creatively with live bamboo and other natural elements. In time, as moss progressively covers the rocks, it starts to look even more natural-looking.

Wherever there is sufficient open space, you have the possibility to build a more extensive water feature. Give some thought to adding a delightful final touch like a pond filled with koi or a tiny stream.

However, water does not have to be an actual element in a Japanese water fountain. It is acceptable to use representations of water in place of real water, such as sand, rocks, or natural stones. You can also assemble flat stones and position them close enough together that they look like water in motion.
