You could be reminded of a fantastic vacation or trip you took. It might bring back memories of that special someone. You might choose to make it into a memorial to someone deceased. In any case, it is something you will delight in for many years.

Tips for Mounting a Wall Water Feature

Enhance nearly any room with the addition of a wall fountain. A waterfall will bring a sense of relaxation with the comforting sounds of moving water. People tend to hang wall fountains in any area where folks meet, but most commonly in entryways. How to mount one varies somewhat depending on the model, but there are some general guidelines that apply to all of them. Be sure that all the various parts are used in building it. It will be necessary to connect the pump and tubing, and the base will need to be attached to the top portion. It is advisable to carefully look at the directions before you begin the assembly process. The set-up technique is quite simple to grasp. That said, there can be minor differences depending on the model you have. Do not hesitate to get someone to assist you to position the wall fountain in the right spot while you make a small mark on the wall. To facilitate a straight line, use a level. Mark the wall where you want the very top of the wall fountain as well as the bottom. There is more than one way to install a wall fountain. You can insert the screws in the wall and glide them into the holes on the back of the wall fountain. Alternatively, you could affix brackets to the wall and use those. This last one is the more advisable way, particularly if your fountain is large.

Mark the point on the wall where the brackets need to be installed. Bore pilot holes in the wall wherever you need to place the drywall anchors. Carefully tap on the anchors with a hammer to insert them into the wall. The brackets can then be mounted on the wall using a screwdriver or wireless drill. Now, hoist your unit and hang it on the mounting brackets. Make sure that it is properly straight and not loose. Water can be added after the fountain has been mounted. There should be adequate water to cover the water pump. It is now time to plug it in and observe the water flow. The water should fill the basin to within an inch of the upper end. Be careful not to fill it totally to the top or it will overflow when you switch off the pump. When the pump is off the water all settles at the bottom of the basin, causing the water level to rise. The water will overflow and cause damage if your wall fountain is overly full.

Garden Water Features: The Many Styles From Which to Pick

A garden can be a little oasis, providing you a tranquil place to stop and enjoy some outdoor time. There is nothing as beautiful as one to relax in, something you can keep in mind when you are working to get it set up. A beautiful garden will boost any property value, as “curb appeal” is important to the market value. There are many ways to improve the visual appeal of a yard, like adding flowers and plants, artwork, an attractive pavement, or a water feature.

The visual appeal of any garden can be greatly improved by just adding a water fountain. Where you once had a plain area, you will now enjoy an outdoor wonderland. You are not the only one who will love the serenity the sounds of the water create; you might also notice an increase in the number of birds and other friendly critters visiting. All attention will now be focused on the beautiful fountain.

Common Water Fountains Found in Japanese Landscapes

A water element is an essential part of any Japanese garden. You will often see Japanese water fountains in the doorway of a temple or home due to the fact that they are considered symbolic of physical and spiritual cleansing. Since water is meant to be the central point of a fountain, you will notice that the designs are kept very simple.

You will also find many fountains that have spouts made of bamboo. Underneath the bamboo spout is usually a stone basin which receives the water as it flows down from the spout. Even when new, it should be designed to look as if it has been outdoors for a long time. Natural elements such as plants and rocks are commonly put in place around a fountain so that it seems more in line with nature. Clearly this fountain is much more than merely a pretty add-on.

If you want to get a bit more creative, try a stone fountain enhanced with live bamboo and other natural elements placed on a bed of gravel. Gradually moss begins to grow over the stones and cover them, and as that happens the area starts to look more and more like a natural part of the landscape.

Bigger water features can be designed if there is enough open land. Popular water feature extras are a koi pond or any sort of small pool, or even a wandering brook.

Japanese fountains, though, do not necessarily need to have water in them. Good options include stones, gravel, or sand to symbolize water. You can also gather flat stones and place them close enough together that they look like water in motion.

Admire the Beauty of the Cascade Water Feature at Chatsworth

At the rear of Chatsworth House, the Cascade garden water fountain creates a dazzling focal point to the landscape. Extending down the hillside for 200 yards towards the residence is a group of 24 irregularly positioned stone steps. Founded on a 17th century French design, the Cascade is also totally gravity fed. In 1696, this water fountain was built for the first Duke of Devonshire and has remained unaltered ever since that time. At the apex of the fountain, from which water runs downward, is the Cascade House. The dwelling, adorned on the exterior with ocean creatures in bas-relief, is actually a small-scale building. Water pressure to the Cascade can be boosted on specific occasions, meaning the Cascade House becomes part of the Cascade pageant, as water circulates through conduits on its roof and from the jaws of its carved ocean creatures, prior to proceeding straight down the Cascade. The sound of the water cascading varies as it falls down the Cascades because of the minor variance in the size of each step thereby creating a wonderful and restful accompaniment to a walk through the gardens. Back in 2004, Chatsworth's Cascade was chosen by historians at Country Life as the best water feature in England.
